…but music has to be Divine also... if it is a proper music of a proper type then it communicates. But that discretion only comes after realization.
What you enjoy there is the vibrations. You feel the cool vibrations and you start enjoying it...
The cool vibrations soothe you down." …Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi

The awakening of the Kundalini (Universal Feminine Spiritual Energy) emits primordial sounds which correspond to the classical musical notes (both in the Indian and Western musical system), as she opens the spiritual centres within our subtle body (as illustrated in the below graphic) on her onward journey to the thousand petal lotus Sahasrara (corresponding to the fontanel, limbic area).
Chakras | Indian Scale | Western | ||
Sahasrara | Ni | Tea | ||
Agnya | Dha | La | ||
Vishuddhi | Pa | So | ||
Anahata | Ma | Fah | ||
Nabhi | Ga | Me | ||
Swadisthan | Re | Rae | ||
Mooladhara | Sa | Doe | ||
This phenomenon creates a sense of peace and gives an experience of subtle bliss within the silent space between the thought waves. This meditative experience culminates into a feeling of ONENESS within us, our surroundings and the whole universe.
One may also feel a sense of cool vibrations that begin to flow over the entire being, which “yogis” relate to the blissful state of NIRANANDA (joyful meditation) and the seeker begins his journey on the path of evolution.
Singing the notes of the Indian music scale and Sahaja Yoga bhajans can be very beneficial. Also listening to Ragas during meditation can also be helpful. Not only do certain notes and sounds relate directly to the chakras, but also certain Ragas and instruments are also related. This correlation can help to open, cure and balance the chakras, and help us to focus our attention.
